On anniversary of Azusa Street revival, Lou Engle hopes to fill L.A. Coliseum, see another great awakening
By Robin Tench and Mark Ellis
The Azusa Call set for April 9th at the LA Coliseum will be the culmination of dreams, visions, and prophecies that inspired Christian leader Lou Engle to take a giant leap of faith in his hunger for revival to sweep the world. He hopes 120,000 of all ages will join together for a day of worship and pray at the enormous venue..
“In the midst of the worldwide upheaval of Islamic terror, political confusion, racial tension, and the great moral slide in America we believe that the color line can be washed away in the blood of Jesus and the great outpouring of the Holy Spirit could be unleashed as it was at Azusa Street in 1906,” he states on the azusanow2016 website.
Engle’s plans for the Azusa Call came together after a close friend had a dream that he was to buy plane tickets on United Airlines that would expire 1080 days after the dream. When they calculated that day, it was April 9, 2016, the 110th anniversary of the Azusa Street revival. Going beyond the significance of the date, they believe the reference to “United Airlines” represents God’s desire for racial and denominational unity in the Body of Christ.
“Can you believe with us that denominations will unite, that the races could come together, that God could make us one, as the antidote to the terrific division in our day? Could you believe with us for stadium Christianity where signs and wonders are breaking out and mass evangelism explodes across our country- the Third Great Awakening?” he asks. Just as the Promise Keepers men’s movement filled stadiums with men in the 1990s, Engle believes a coming outbreak of revival will pack stadiums across the country, with the church receiving renewed power in the Holy Spirit as a result.
The Azusa Street Outpouring in 1906 kicked off the Pentecostal/Charismatic movement in the United States. The leader of Azusa Street, William Seymour, prophesied that in 100 years, a greater revival would break out.
I stand in awe of the God who has been faithful to His promises. He will come to us like the rain. Though darkness covers the earth, the Glory of the Lord rises upon us. I pray your heart burns with this faith. Can a nation be saved? I still believe!” Lou Engle
Che Ahn: It's Time for Bob Jones' Prophesied Billion-Soul Harvest
Bob Jones was a crusty, eccentric prophet. Well before he passed away on Valentine's Day 2014, Bob gave a prophetic word sharing three signs that would take place before the arrival of a Billion-Soul Harvest.
Back in 1983 in Kansas City, he prophesied:
that in America a "morning-after pill" would be invented,
that America would legalize same-sex marriage (which was unthinkable at the time), and
that a watch would be invented that the laborers working in the rice paddies in China could wear and listen to worship music.
Right now we are in a prophetically unprecedented season, as the second and third signs in Bob's prophecy took place just last year—most notably with the advent of the Apple Watch.
In this historic season, it's perfectly clear to me that we are in a time of global harvest.
What does a Billion-Soul Harvest look like? I believe it begins with prayer.
Just two months from now, on April 9 the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum will become ground zero for a massive gathering of unified prayer, love and miracles: TheCall Azusa.
I want to encourage you to join in this "upper room" of 120,000 to help usher in a world-shaking revival and harvest, just as the waves of the Azusa Street Revival impacted millions of people starting exactly 110 years ago to the date.
Smith Wigglesworth prophesied that 110 years after the outpouring of Azusa Street there would come another great revival—greater than Azusa Street. That is why we are digging the wells of revival at Azusa Street. We are praying for a visitation of God unlike any other.
