This weekly ritual could add years to your life!
This weekly ritual could add years to your life! Give me that old-time religion -- because going to church on Sunday isn't just the secret to eternal life for your soul. Turns out it's also the key to a longer and healthier life for your body, too! New research shows how the Sunday faithful have more Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and more -- because folks who attend church regularly have a much lower risk of facing the moment that's usually accompanied by the 23rd Psalm. In a study of more than 75,000 women, those who went to church once a week over the course of 16 years had a 26 percent lower risk of dying from ANY CAUSE than the gals who never went to church at all. The biggest benefits are right where you want them most, with drops in the risk of death from two leading killers: heart disease and cancer. If you're truly devout... if you get to church more than once a week... that risk plunges even further, by 33 percent. Folks who attend less regularly get less of a benefit, but they still get one, with a 13 percent lower risk of death from any cause. It may not be politically correct to talk about the power of prayer... and it'll drive the atheists that run the nation's left-wing media absolutely batty to even mention it. But it looks like some prayers get answered after all! I've already seen the church-haters in the mainstream try to dismiss the study, claiming that folks who go to church every week are healthier to start with because sick people can't get out much (if at all). But the researchers adjusted for all that. They checked the numbers and checked them again... and no matter how many tweaks they made, they got the same answer. Church, more than anything else, saves lives. "This suggests that there is something powerful about the communal religious experience," senior author, Tyler J. VanderWeele, a professor of epidemiology at Harvard told the New York Times. "These are systems of thought and practice shaped over millennia, and they are powerful." Darn right it's powerful! So do your body, mind, and spirit a favor and get your tail to church if you're not going already. If you haven't been there in a while, don't worry about it -- they'll welcome you back with open arms. It's church, after all. But there's something you will need in order to get the keys to the kingdom: the keys to your car. As I shared with you earlier this month, seniors who drive are more than twice as likely to get to church than seniors who don't. So do your best to keep driving, and for some quick tips on how to do just that, check out this free report from the Daily Dose archives. With a prayer to spare, Jack Harrison
