Update for Family Festival 2014

 

Just wanted to let you know how Family Festival turned out.

This was probably the second largest turn out in 12 years. Well over 400 people attended the event with 210 backpacks of school supplies given out. Thanks to the generous folks in Reedsport the backpacks were well stocked with school supplies. Participants enjoyed over 300 hot dogs, 550 sno-cones, Italian Sodas, Popcorn, and lemonade. They played games, slid down a giant slide, carried away bags and bags of clothes that had been donated, got their bikes tuned up and had a chance to visit with representatives from SMART reading at Highland elementary and new Highland principle, Becky Lupton. Highland pool  gave away free passes, the Williams Family provided the kids with some amazing balloon animals and volunteers painted many smiling faces. Thanks to some area hair dressers, bunches of kids got free haircuts to look sharp for their pictures at school registration.

 

All in all this was one of the best Family Festivals ever thanks to the generous donations of many Reedsport businesses and individuals and the servant hearts of the 40 plus volunteers who made it happen.
